CHRG (Castle Hill RSL Group) and CHBC (Castle Hill Bowling Club) to Amalgamate

Following a call for expressions of interest in March 2021, CHRG and CHBC are set to amalgamate, following the unanimous vote of CHRG members at the Special General Meeting held on Monday September 17, 2022.

This comes following the approval of CHBC members at a Special General Meeting held a week earlier. Final approval is being sought from Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority, which is expected later this year.

“CHRG is a leading provider of hospitality and sport services and facilities, and we are very excited to be welcoming CHBC to the CHRG family of venues.  Over the years, we have enjoyed a strong relationship as neighbours and friends, and we look forward to building on this to support our membership and the sport,” said John Payne, President of CHRG.

CHRG has committed to develop CHBC as a Bowling Centre of Excellence to support and promote the benefits of the sport throughout its membership and beyond.

“We look forward to the enhancement of bowling facilities, which includes a synthetic green, with all-weather roofing and competition standard lighting, along with a new clubhouse,” David O’Neil, Group CEO of CHRG, added.

Noel Benson, Chairman of CHBC said “Having been in operation for the past 62 years, CHBC’s members were keen to ensure the sport of bowls would continue to be available to people living in the Hills area. This amalgamation opportunity, including the new facilities that will be created, will ensure the legacy of past and current members lives on well into the future. We’re delighted for what this amalgamation offers our members and the wider community.”

CHBC members participate in several Bowls NSW competitions and interclub tournaments throughout the year, with the ability to play organised games at the club on 6 days a week. Free coaching is available for anyone interested in trying the sport out.

“Lawn Bowls is a great sport for the young and young at heart – providing a wonderful opportunity for like-minded people to participate in something low-impact, fun and relaxed, while also learning the technical skills of the game,” Paul Bryan, a member of CHBC added.

It is expected that CHRG will finalise the amalgamation with CHBC in early 2023.
